The Williamson Public Library (Wayne County) will offer Ancestry Discovery Sessions on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. There will be 40-minute, one-to-one consultation with a library staff expert who will help you “dig up” your family roots using the library’s free edition of Ancestry.com. Oceanside Public Library (Nassau County) will present “Preserving Your Past: Care and Keeping of Family Collections” on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. Nearly everyone has boxes of family heirlooms stashed in their homes. These items can deteriorate over time but making small changes in their storage and handling can have a huge impact on the lifespan of these materials. Learn about the most common types of material found in family history collections and how best to care for them.
