The third annual NYS Department of State Caring for Your Cemetery Day will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26.
The purpose of the event is to connect cemeteries with volunteers across New York State – both groups and individuals – to assist in clean-up activities. Many cemeteries have limited maintenance budgets and volunteers can help the cemetery staff prepare for the spring season.
Some of the tasks that might be asked to do include: cleaning up small debris, trash and seasonal decorations; planting flowers; removing downed branches, weeds and overgrowth; scattering grass seed and light tasks.
