Two New York websites make best genealogy websites list

The two New York City based genealogy websites  made the 2021 edition of Family Tree Magazine’s 101 Best Genealogy Websites. Both websites were named to the Best U.S. Genealogy Websites category.

New York Public Library Digital Collections has more than 906,817 items digitized from The New York Public Library‘s collections. This site is a living database with new materials added every day, featuring prints, photographs, maps, manuscripts, streaming video, and more.

State of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation  “Passenger Search” has 65 million records of arrivals through the Port of New York dating back to 1820, including but not limited to Ellis Island passengers. Some passenger records are more complete than others, but many reveal name, age, date of arrival, ship name, nationality, birthplace, occupation, last residence overseas, and final destination.
