The New York City Municipal Archives recently obtained custody of the 1950 death certificate records and has digitized the index volume for deaths in all five New York City boroughs.
The index is organized by surname and can be downloaded and searched for the certificate number. It is possible to request copies of death certificates from the Municipal Archives for $18 from the following link: https://dorisorders.nyc.gov/dorisorders/ui/order-vital-records
The microfilm of the 1950 death certificates obtained by the Municipal Archives shows signs of significant deterioration which prevents its use by the public.
