The New York Genealogical & Biographical Society has launched a new online collection: the membership applications and historical records of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. (SRNY).
This online release makes available thousands of digitized records that will ultimately comprise more than 10,000 membership applications and organizational records – dating from 1883 to the present – searchable by full-text transcription and by index.
Each membership application traces a member’s descent from a Revolutionary War patriot, offering details including:
- Birth, marriage, and death information
- Places of residence
- Correspondence and certificates
This initial release represents the first installment of the collection. A second release, coming later this fall, will complete the online publication of the remaining records, creating a significant resource documenting New York’s Revolutionary heritage.
