Green-Wood Cemetery will host a trolley tour , “Wealth with Purpose: Women on a Mission,” on Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m.
Celebrate fearless women who refused to play by the rules. This trolley tour spotlights Green-Wood’s women who defied convention and changed the world in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
You’ll learn about Grace Nail Johnson, a civil rights activist and cultural force in the Harlem Renaissance; Louisine Havemeyer, the socialite-turned-suffragist who was arrested for trying to burn an effigy of President Woodrow Wilson on the White House lawn; and Elizabeth Gloucester, a savvy entrepreneur whose fortune helped fund John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry.
