The New York Genealogical & Biographical Society recently released a free-to-use enhanced index for FamilySearch’s digital collection, New York, Land Records, 1630-1975.
The collection includes over 8 million pages of deeds, mortgages, patents and land grants. There are three counties not included in the collection: Franklin, Nassau and Queens.
The index allows users to search by grantor or grantee, date and county. Colonial place names are tied to their present-day county locations. Also variants on place names that refer to the same location have been combined.
