Regional genealogy conference to take place in Jamestown

The Chautauqua Regional Genealogy Conference will take place at the Fluvanna Community Church in Jamestown on Saturday, April 27. It is being sponsored by the Fenton History Center.

There will be four classes to choose from for each time period.

Class 1 – 10:15 AM – 11:30 AMqua

Genealogy for Beginners; Tax and Land Records; Immigration and Ways to Publish Your Genealogy Research

Class 2-  11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Chautauqua County Resources; Genetic Genealogy; Cool Tools for Genealogy and African American Genealogy

Class 3 – 2 – 3:15 p.m.

Genealogy Organized; Ancestry.com for Beginners; Anatomy of a U.S. Military Pension File and New York Historic Newspapers

Class 4 – 3:30-4:45 p.m.

FamilySearch; Ancestry.com for Intermediates; Cite Your Sources and Preserving Historic Family Photos

In addition, there will be a history fair at the church that is free and open to the public. There will be vendors and books for sale. A guest speaker, Caleb Abrams, will present at talk at 9 a.m. Abrams is a Seneca filmmaker and multimedia artist from Buffalo.
