Two NYPL branches to offer genealogy programs

Two branches of the New York Public Library will be offering in-person genealogy help during December.

There will be a genealogy hour at the Seward Park branch on Thursday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 28 from 2- 3 p.m. The library is located at 192 East Broadway in Manhattan. Come and use databases such as Ancestry.com Library Edition and FamilySearch.org to help find records of your ancestors. Feel free to bring documents/family records to assist with your search. You will be able to print out any documents you find during your research. Registration is required.

To register, go to: https://www.nypl.org/events/programs/2023/12/14/genealogy-hour-seward-park-library#register

The Baychester branch will offer in-person genealogy help on Thursday, Dec. 7 and Thursday, Dec. 21 from 1-2 p.m. The library is located at 2049 Asch Loop North in the Bronx. Learn how to use the many genealogy resources available through New York Public Library. The first class of the month will go over how to access and use databases, where one can find the necessary resources, etc. The second class will be less of a lecture and instead will also function as an open lab where patrons can conduct their genealogical research with assistance from the teacher.

There is no registration. Classes will be on a first come, first served basis.
