World War I program to focus on Saratoga County veterans

The Saratoga County History Center will host Paul Perreault, Malta Town Historian, for a program entitled “Men and Women of Saratoga County Who Answered the Call in World War One” on Wednesday , November 8 at 7 p.m. in the Long Room at Brookside Museum.

November 11, 2023 marks the 105th anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War One. Of all of the men and women who fought in the American Expeditionary Force, 10% were from New York State and many of those were from Saratoga County.

Seventy-two from the County died from either combat wounds or disease contracted while serving, eight of those men were from Waterford. This is the story of some of those from Saratoga County who answered the call, gleaned from local records sent to the State Archives.

This event is free to the public. Donations are always welcome and will be used to support the programs of Saratoga County History Center.
