Marlboro library to offer two genealogy classes in August

The Marlboro Free Library (Ulster County) will be offering two in-person genealogy classes on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

At 11 a.m. there will be a “Getting Started with Genealogy.”

During this presentation, attendees will learn how to map out a family tree, methods to record findings, review the basics of using AncestryLibrary.com, and hear about other available free websites. This presentation will also touch briefly on popular DNA testing kits. Walk-ins are welcome.

At Noon the second presentation will be and “Intro to Researching Your Family History” workshop.

Workshop attendees will apply their new research skills, learned during our Getting Started with Genealogy Presentation, to make new discoveries! Search through genealogical databases and websites, while library staff assist with questions or problems. Bring your library card and family history as far back as you know and let staff show you how you can expand your search.

Participants can attend just “Getting Started with Genealogy” or the “Intro to Researching Your Family History” workshop or both programs.
