New York cemetery walking tours to take place in August

Three cemetery walking tours will take place in August.

The Little Falls Historical Society will present a walking tour of Church Street Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

What do gravestones with shrouded urns, weeping angels, lambs, flowers and tree stumps represent?  Who were Enoch Moore, Seth Richmond and Cecelia Johnson and how did they impact Little Falls history? Learn the answers to these questions and find out about other interesting life stories while taking this tour.

Meet at the caretaker’s cabin near West Monroe Street and Arthur Street at 6:15 p.m. and the tour will begin at 6:30 p.m. Rain date is August 10.

The Saratoga Preservation Foundation will present “Greenridge Cemetery and the Civil War” walking tour on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The tour will be 90 minutes, rain or shine. There are no physical tickets, your name will be on a list. Bring water, wear sunscreen and pack an umbrella is needed.

The Friends of Oakwood Cemetery will present a twlight tour of Oakwood Cemetery in Troy on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Listen to remarkable stories as we visit the monuments of Oakwood’s interesting residents. The grave of Uncle Sam and the panoramic overlook at sunset are tour highlights. Bring a flashlight.
