New York City 1911 birth index available through New York society

The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society offers the only New York City birth index 1911 for the boroughs of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

Names are arranged alphabetically by the first letter of the last name. Each year from 1911-1917 has two volumes. Volume 1 represents Manhattan, while Volume 2 represents the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Richmond (Staten Island). Names, dates of birth, and certificate numbers can be found in the index.

Although Ancestry has a version of the 1911 index, NYG&B’s images are more readable (including the certificate numbers) and it collection is currently the only place online to find the 1911 Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island indexes.

Researchers can search all of the indexes using the search box or start browsing an individual volume by selecting the title. You do not need to be a member of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society use this index.
