Jefferson County Genealogical Society to meet on May 2

The Jefferson County New York Genealogical Society will host a meeting on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 20020 Ives Street Road in Watertown.

The presenter, Jean Wilcox Hibben, will be talking about “Means, Motive and Opportunity: The Sad Saga of George Richards.” This is a case study of a man whose choices served to confuse his descendants. Learn how a variety of records helped to unlock his real story. Learn how to locate original records that can separate fact from fiction and how to assess evidence for accuracy.

Ms. Hibben has been involved in family research for over 40 years and was on the board of directors for the Association of Professional Genealogists and was president of its Southern California chapter. She is a member of the Jefferson County NY Genealogical Society and write a quarterly column “Ask Aunty Jeff” for the society newsletter.
