Glen Cove Library to offer two free genealogy programs

The Glen Cove Public Library (Nassau County) will offer two free virtual genealogy programs this week.

“Advanced Genealogy Research” will take place on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m. Start utilizing the information you have collection while tracing your family tree. Learn how to interpret records for more accurate results. Learn about lesser-known family history resources like city directories, year books and more.

“Irish Genealogy: An Introduction to Archives in Ireland and Their Websites” on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. Explore the sites of the major repositories and principal archives in Ireland: the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, the National Archives of Ireland and the National Library of Ireland, as well as other sites of major institutions and providers. Also learn about some secondary-level websites that enable researchers to dig further into specific collections or geographical areas. It will reference sites that are both free to use and those for which a paid subscription or credits are required.
