First NYS veterans cemetery gets new name

Gov.  Kathy Hochul recently announced that the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located in Seneca County, had officially been turned over to New York State and has been renamed the New York State Veterans Cemetery – Finger Lakes.

The State Division of Veterans’ Services will oversee the cemetery. The cemetery is located adjacent to Sampson State Park and is the former site of Sampson Naval Training Station and Sampson Air Force Base.
