New York genealogy society to host indexing, digitizing events

The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society will be hosting an indexing event and digitizing event from Wednesday, Jan. 26 to Friday, Jan. 28.

On Wednesday, Jan. 26, beginning at noon, you can join from home and work on the New York Land Records Project using FamilySearch’s indexing web-based indexing tool. Indexers will capture the name and date of recorded transactions and other information to allow for the eventual linkage of these records with original materials.

To register for the event, go to: https://www.newyorkfamilyhistory.org/events/24-hours-indexing-nygb. You will receive an email with a link to sign up for a time and further instructions.

On Thursday, Jan 27 and Friday, Jan. 28 come to the New York G & B offices at 35 West 44th Street, Suite 711 and scan and digitize records. Those participating will spend one hour scanning New York G & B materials and then use the society’s equipment to scan your personal records for an hour. Participants will train you to use the scanner and staff will be on hand to assist participants.

You must wear a mask, show proof of vaccination and booster shot and agree to do a rapid COVID test upon arrival
